With a lot of anticipated titles about to hit the shelves we decided to take a look at the best games released so far this year. Here are the top 10 titles that have us hooked to the Xbox.

10. Secret Armory of General Knoxx

This add on to the massive hit “Borderlands” was released in February this year. This comes in addition to the already available two downloadable content packs titles “Zombie Island of Dr. Ned” & “Mad Moxxie’s Underdome Riot”. The add on of the Sci-fi first person shooter (FPS) comes at a meager cost of 800 Microsoft points ($10). Expanded level caps, tough enemies and some brand new rides are just the tip of the ice berg for this addictive title.



9. Bayonetta

This was among the first titles of the Xbox released this year. This Beat-Em’up genre really set the benchmark for 2010. Stunning animations bundled with an entertaining combat system really took the players by storm. The game impressed critics and players alike with epic boss fights and a competitive scoring system. There were slight camera issues but other than that Bayonetta is surely one of the best titles currently available.



8. Bioshock 2

The city of Rapture looks more creepy and awe inspiring than ever in this sequel to the last year’s hit Bioshock. The game received accolades for stunning graphics and realistic voice acting. 7. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction

This game featured an amazing single player campaign which, although was short , had a great storyline.However the real star of this game was the two player co-operative campaign which had everyone drooling.This game unlike the other splinter cell games was less focused on stealth. The new concepts introduced such as the Mark and Execute system received positive reviews from critics and players alike.The game was widely acclaimed for it’s terrific voice acting and a great original soundtrack.




6. LIMBO

This unique 2D platformer took everyone by surprise with its brain teasing puzzles. The black & white environment coupled with beautiful sound design transports the player into a world of hidden mysteries and rewards. The player has to help a young boy travel through a hostile land of Limbo filled with dangerous creatures. The aesthetically pleasing title received some criticism for a very abrupt ending.



5. Alan Wake

This horror action adventure takes place in dark and gloomy environment which will send a chill down your spine. The game merges fresh storytelling with supernatural events in a flawless manner. The soundtrack is also well suited to the mysterious environment of the game. Though “Alan Wake” could have used some more surprises in the mission design to scare the players.



4. Super Street Fighter IV

3. Battlefield: Bad Company 2

The campaign however,is not the main component of the game, it is the competitive online multi player modes that make Battlefield Bad Company 2 an unbelievably good game. Completely destructible environments make sure that no map plays out the same way and with plenty of weapons, the ability to ride and use vehicles and a plethora of maps make Bad Company 2′s multi player modes a blast to play.The single player campaign also features destructible environment and some amazing voice acting making it worth playing.



2. Mass Effect 2

In Mass Effect 2, you once again take the role of commander Shepard,destined to save humanity. Mass Effect 2 takes the unreal engine to it’s utmost height with stunningly beautiful graphics. The game, for the most part is bug free, unlike the previous game and runs flawlessly at 60 frames per second. Perhaps the best thing about Mass Effect 2 is the outstanding cast of characters and even better voice acting. Each character you get to know has his or her own story which you learn as you get to know them better.The great soundtrack and the sound effects make the game a treat for your ears. Also the story is one of the best in any RPG game. Mass Effect 2 is one of the most personal game of all time. You make tons of decisions through out the game and these affect how the story play out therefore it has unbelievably high replay value. Also, you can import your Shepard from the first game so that you can also see the aftermath of some of the decisions you made in the first game. The game play has been noticeably streamlined so that you have to spend less time at loading screens and elevators and more time shooting stuff and making decisions. All in all Mass Effect 2 is a must have for all RPG fans out there.

Rockstar moves away from the urban setting of Liberty City to the wild west in this epic title. This game is surely a strong contender for the prestigious “Game of the Year” award. This game raises the bar for open world action games with its brutal sequences coupled with quirky humor.This is possibly one of the best title released in 2010.The game has an outstanding cast of memorable characters.The story missions are always fun with enjoyable multi player modes to keep you glued to the screen for hours. The storyline is also remarkable with well timed twists and multiple climaxes. Side missions and other activities can also be followed at will along with the storyline missions. In short, Red Dead Redemption is undoubtedly one of the best thing that happened to the box this year.
