Children with autistic disorder usually suffer from severe allergies. Therefore, need special attention from the parents.

Please note, children with autistic disorder have a metabolic disorder that is difficult to digest foods that are classified as casein (protein from milk) and gluten (protein from wheat).

These foods do not have to dipantang lifetime. With increasing age children, the food can be introduced one by one, little by little.

Here are some suggestions from the center of Growth Therapy (yamet) and several other sources to regulate food in general in children with autistic disorder, among others:
  • Give a balanced diet by substituting foods containing casein and gluten with other ingredients to ensure that the body gets all the nutrients needed for growth, repair the damaged cells and daily activities.
  • Sugar should be avoided, especially for the hyperactive and there are fungal infections. Fructose can be used as a sugar substitute because of slower absorption of fructose compared to glucose / sucrose.
  • Use vegetable oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil, soybean oil, or olive oil as a replacement for conventional cooking oils.
  • Get plenty of fiber, especially fiber from vegetables and fresh fruits. Consumption of vegetables and 3-5 servings of fruit per day.
  • Avoid foods that are using a food additive (flavor enhancer agents, dyes, preservatives).
  • When the balance of nutrients can not be met, because children are too difficult to accept food intake, then consider vitamin and mineral supplementation (vitamin B6, vitmin C, zinc, and magnesium). This step should be consulted with a doctor.
  • Provide adequate food varies. When food is monotonous, then the child will be bored.
  • Avoid junk food as it is now widely sold, replace with fresh fruit and vegetables.
