Five Causes Autism
Autism is a complex developmental disorder in children. Symptoms that appear are in the field of developmental disorders: development of a two-way interaction, the development of reciprocal interaction, and behavioral development.

Until now the certainty of autism has not been solved. In fact, the development of the number of children with autism are now increasingly alarming. In the United States, comparison of normal children with autism with a 1:150, 1:100 while in the UK. Indonesia does not have good data on it.

The scientists say autism is due to a combination of factors, including genetic factors triggered by environmental factors. Here are the factors that trigger autism is strongly suspected that this is still mysterious.

1. Genetic

There is strong evidence of the changes in the gene contribute to the onset of autism. According to the National Institutes of Health, families with children with autism have a 1-20 times greater odds to give birth to children with autism as well.

Studies in twins found, if one child with autism, twin most likely have the same disorder.

In general, the experts identified 20 genes that cause autism spectrum disorders. These genes play an important role in brain development, brain growth, and the way brain cells communicate.

2. Pesticide

High pesticide exposure was also associated with the onset of autism. Some research found that pesticides will disrupt gene function in the central nervous system. According to Dr. Alice Mao, associate professor of psychiatry, the chemicals in pesticides have an impact on those who have talent autism.

3. Drugs

Babies who are exposed to certain drugs while in the womb have a greater risk of autism. These drugs including thalidomide and valproic. Thalidomide is an old generation drugs used to treat symptoms of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, anxiety, and insomnia.

Drug thalidomide itself has been banned in America because of the many reports of babies born deformed. However, these drugs are now prescribed to address skin disorders and cancer therapy. Meanwhile, valproic acid is a drug used for patients with mood disorders and bipolar disorder.

4. Age of parents

The older age of parents when a child, the higher the risk of the child suffering from autism. The study, published in 2010 found that women age 40 years had a 50 percent risk of having a child with autism compared with women aged 20-29 years.

"It is not known with certainty the relationship of age with autism parents. However, this is presumably because the gene mutation factor," said Alycia Halladay, Director of Environmental Studies Research Autism Speaks.

5. Brain development

Certain areas in the brain, including cortex and cerebellum serebal responsible for the concentration, movement and mood regulation, related to autism. Imbalances of neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin, the brain is also associated with autism.
