Psychology Zone - Blogging or commonly known as 'blogging', it has psychological benefits for adolescents who suffer from social anxiety, improve their self esteem and help them relate better with their friends. It is delivered in a study in the journal published by the American Psychological Association (APA) quoted by Science Daily (01/04/12).
According Meyran Boniel-Nissim, PhD, research has shown that writing a personal diary is a great way to release emotional stress. Not only that, freedom of expression and communication can also be done with blogging activities. Maintaining a blog has a strong positive effect on adolescent well-being. The positive effects of blogging is to express their anxieties and socialize through the comments.
Although cyberbullying and online abuse very extensive and tough defense, not all negative effects. In a blog, surely we will find a wide range of comments. Positive social expression can be found online in the form of comments providing support and advice for the blog owner.
In a study conducted by Meyran Boniel-Nissim at the high school students in Israel, few adolescents reported having a state of poor social and emotional in a relationship with their friends. Some of them were assigned to build a blog and some comments and suggestions in the blog.
Self-esteem and the number of positive social behaviors increased significantly for the bloggers. This is better than the teens who do not do anything, even better than just writing a personal diary.
The researchers analyzed separately by gender and found that the children of men and women have similar results and no major differences. However, they provide suggestions for future studies that focus on gender control.
