GENETIC FACTOR   regarded as the sole cause of autism so that sufferers can not be cured but the evidence shows there is now emerging as an opportunity to cure the disorder is not only influenced by genetic factors but also influenced by environmental factors.

On World Autism Awareness Day Care in Jakarta, Wednesday (2/4), dr. Melly Budiman Foundation Autisma SpKJ of Indonesia said it also demonstrated the existence of healing and improving opportunities for persons with autism.

"Autism affects the brain and body. If a disruption in the body can be cured then it would help repair the brain as well," he said, adding that it is supported by the facts about the number of autistic children are "healed".

Furthermore, he explained, children with autistic spectrum disorders (Autistic Spectrum Disorder / ASD) usually experience a disruption in the digestive tract, immune system, central nervous system and the detoxification process.

They were, he continued, are also allergic to many foods, heavy metal toxicity (Hg, Pb, As, Cd) and biochemical conditions disturbed her. "When all the distractions in the body can be healed, then the brain will be more to function properly," he said. He further explained that the most important of these is the detection and diagnosis of these disorders receive early as possible.

The earlier a child is diagnosed and receive appropriate treatment, according to him, the greater her chance to return to the normal developmental pathways. Comprehensive management for persons with autism, she says, including improvement of the body (the management of biomedical), Medical (drug) when needed and the treatment of non-medical such as behavioral therapy, speech, occupational, sensory integration and others.

"There is no one type that can cure autism obatpun," he added. He also explained that the success of healing or improvement of autism disorders depends on many factors such as weight or severity of disorders of the brain, heavy or light interference with the body, speed and handling of children diagnosed early, appropriate, integrated and intensive.

"Many children are experiencing tremendous growth, but many were not well developed," he said. He also explained that in this case parents with autism need support from physicians, therapists, and especially so that people can be tough to face her situation and do not despair.

"We therefore urge the public to better understand what autism is, and do not make fun of or harass individuals with autism, but more tolerant and help, to be empathetic to the parents of children with autism and understand the difficulties they face," he said.

School administrators, he said, should also provide educational opportunities to children with autism who are worthy and capable. "And of course the government should provide guarantees in the areas of health, education and therapy that is affordable by all segments of society," said dr. Melly.
